Germinal Horizon, its research division, operates across three sites, including the grassland research centre at Aberystwyth University's IBERS in Wales. Two trial sites focus on real-world, on-farm testing to ensure climate-smart forage options perform well in actual farming conditions.

R&D plant breeding has produced successful innovations like Aber HSG, an award-winning High Sugar Grass proven to reduce emissions, and Double Root, a world-first hybrid clover with increased tolerance to cold and drought.
